Big Summer Juice Detox – Day 2

DAY 2

Started the morning with some Yoga Meltdown with Jillian Michaels.

Yes,  Sunday should be my rest day but because of that time of the month..had my rest day on Wednesday instead this week.

Woke up feeling like I needed something light with not much impact- listening to my body.

Really should have been running but it was quite dreary outside and couldn’t motivate myself to be out there.

So at least I did something!

I love this workout..30 mins of dynamic yoga – giving me a great sweat workout and great toning!

After some water, made myself some fresh mint tea – whilst preparing my juices for the day: JM’s Super Juicex2, Super Chute Juice & Turbo Expressx2

It took me most of the morning!

But worth it.

Whilst I had the energy, I also cut up all the fruits & veggies for the next day, which I prepared at night :) – with school holidays over and this juicer taking a little more time to clean – it was best this way.

I was a little behind with my juices because I started making them around 9ish, so by the end of this day, I had one juice left over!

Had my son’s karate grading in the afternoon, so was able to bring one of the juices with me.

As celebration of him earning his blue belt,  he usually likes to go out and have something to eat as celebration – a habit that I have yet to break myself. So his choice was muffins from Muffin Break.

That was tough.

I love Muffin Break muffins.

I know they’re not good for me with the amount of refined stuff in them…but I love them nevertheless!

The smell of the muffins and the coffee that I bought my hubby was killing me.

My juice for that afternoon was the Super Chute juice – not my favourite!

But soldiered on and ignored them all eating their muffins.

Afternoon tea is my toughest habit to break!

By 3pm,  I want to sit down with a cuppa and something sweet(biscuits, cake)

Most of the time I am good and have nut mix of some sort – but the last few weeks have brought alive the sugar cravings!

After that juice, I was feeling quite tired and fell asleep whilst we were all watching a show together.

A much needed nap!

I spent the evening making them all dinner. With a lot more restraint this time.

Making them all a beautiful chicken & vegetables with rice. Which I know tasted amazing, because of me choosing not to eat it at this time :)

Then spent the evening making my juices for Day 3

I wanted to blog here, so stayed up a little and had to have a chamomile tea to keep me going.

Even though chamomile tea is suppose to help me sleep..in this case, it worked in the reverse!

By the time I went to bed, I had a massive headache!

Remembering that this was all my doing! From all that I have been feeding my body.

Rest is definitely imperative during this detox. Especially when I didn’t wean myself into it.

Thankfully, I was able to finally rest with Leonie Dawson’s Divine Dreaming Meditation. I never heard the end of it..so it must have worked hehe. I love this meditation..most relaxing and healing.

Although I was edgy on this day with all the different changes happening to my body, at the same time, I felt quite calm!

I made it through another day!

And never gave in to the Green Eyed hunger monster! :)

Question I have been asking myself:

Why is my mojo so much more alive during winter than it is in Summer?

Big Summer Juice Detox

DAY 1

I just realised today that I have never blogged about my Juice detox experiences.

So here I am!

I’ve had a couple of experiences doing a juice detox with Jason Vale.

This particular detox is based on Jason’s book 7lbs in 7 days - which is an amazing book to read before starting on this detox.

It’s really a must read, to get one into the right state before beginning this journey.

As with everything that we embark on, it’s absolutely imperative that we have a reason for doing it and not just purely for the sake of doing a detox.

A deeper reason is very important so that you have the motivation to keep going.

I planned to get on this a while ago when I saw the email promoting it in my inbox.

Although was not aware exactly what day it was starting..usually these things start on a Monday, but this one started on a Saturday!

Strange I thought.

So luckily I checked this out before going shopping on Friday and was able to get all that I needed to for most of the week.

Because we had already planned a visit with my brother and family on Saturday, I had to think  ahead and prepare all my juices for that day. So Friday night had me in the kitchen, preparing all 5 of my juices.

This was a real test for my new juicer that’s for sure…doing so many in a row.

The next day, I took 3 of the juices with me to my brother’s in a cooler bag and put them in their fridge when we got there.

My sister in law prepared a beautiful healthy lunch ..which smelled delicious but I was strong and poured my JM Super Chute Juice.

Sipped on it slowly for the next half hour or so..with a couple of peppermint teas in between.

Then she served Banana/Blueberry Bread for afternoon tea.

I won’t say it wasn’t tempting.

It was!

But seriously, I had been feeding my body so many similar things in the last few weeks, I was glad to not be feeding it any more of all the refined stuff I had been drowning myself in.

Yes, I  was still reading labels, but really, most of my diet lately had been out of a packet or a box..NOT GOOD!

Not because it says so out there or some expert told me so.

Because my body was telling me so.

It was truly not happy with me.

By 3.30pm, the withdrawal symptoms really hit me…ended up having to have a nap before taking on the 2 hour drive back home.

When we got home, I made a quick grilled fish with veggies/salad for the family…which seemed a lot more delicious and tempting than ever!

The benefit for my family when I am on a detox, everything tastes better because I eat with with my sense of smell & sight :)

I had a headache whilst drinking my last juice of the day – Lemon Ginger Zinger

It helped to have a chamomile tea before going to bed :)

Oh and my workout for the day was Jillian Michael’s Body Revolution Workout 4

I expected this first day to be a challenge as I didn’t ease myself into the program by cutting out all the sugar before hand…so my body is working over time flushing out all the crap that I had been feeding it now.

Passie’s version of JM Super Chute Juice

Pas’ version of JM Super Chute Juice

Ingredients:

  • 2 Golden delicious  or Green apples

    Didn’t take a pic of my own juice, so borrowed this one from Google :)

  • A small chunk of Carrot
  • 1/2 a stick of Celery
  • 1 large handful of mixed green leaves(kale, spinach, mint – anything that you can get your hands on!)
  • 1/4 Cucumber
  • 1/2 inch of Broccoli stem
  • 1 small handful alfalfa sprouts
  • 1/4 inch slice unpeeled raw beetroot
  • 1/4 inch slice Zucchini
  • 1 small piece of lemon(wax free)
  • 1/4 inch slice Ginger
  • 2 ice cubes(or crushed ice)

(Double recipe if needed for more than 1 meal in the day)

Instructions:

  1. Juice it all one after the other – and make sure that your juicer doesn’t get stuck or clogged up! hehe – Start with apple and end with apple
  2. Serve in tall glass or wine glass over ice

The beetroot takes over this juice, even though it’s only a small piece that you put in – it becomes red!

And mehh.. not the best tasting juice out of all the juices I have made from any of JM’s detoxes to be honest.

But Hey..full of goodness:

It’s packed with Calcium, Iron, Potassium, Selenium, Folic Acid & Chlorophyll. Packed with Vitamin A – helping maintain healthy skin, eyes & bones and boosts the immune system(which is what I really need right now!!)

Beetroot is one of nature’s best blood builders, and rich in carotenoids.

So purely for the benefits and that it’s an anti-cancer King…Get on this :)
